CALLAS DIVA

Overview

Callas Diva is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker that inherits the tonal qualities of the Grand Callas in a more compact and versatile format. With a reduced volume yet uncompromising performance, Diva delivers a wide, three-dimensional and perfectly defined soundstage, with dynamics, extension and control that place it among the finest achievements in its class. Elegant and imposing, it represents the ideal balance of power, refinement and domestic adaptability.

Design: elegance and acoustics

Opera Diva is the most compact floorstanding loudspeaker in the Callas line, featuring an internal volume of 60 liters, 54 of which are dedicated to the woofer, with a separate sealed chamber for the midrange.

Handcrafted in MDF and curved multilayer wood, the cabinet features front panels up to 50 mm thick and internal bracing that ensures rigidity, eliminating unwanted vibrations.

The internal surfaces, especially around the drivers, are shaped to minimize turbulence and resonances, while the midrange chamber is treated with highly efficient absorbing materials to suppress internal reflections in the vocal range.

The result is a cabinet that blends craftsmanship and engineering, combining aesthetic elegance with exceptional sonic precision.

The soul of Opera’s sound

The unique character of Opera Diva is undoubtedly the result of carefully selected, high-quality drivers, designed to Opera’s own specifications.

The low frequencies are handled by an 8” long-throw woofer with an aluminum cone, rubber surround and optimized magnetic assembly, providing exceptional control and extremely low distortion. Though crossed over at 200 Hz, it can operate linearly up to 1500 Hz, ensuring seamless integration with the midrange: a 7” annealed polypropylene driver that guarantees naturalness and tonal coherence in the vocal band.

The Scanspeak 9700 tweeter – an absolute reference on the world stage – completes the high range with unmatched refinement and reliability.

A distinctive feature of the Diva, as with the Grand Callas, is its rear-radiation system: two additional tweeters in natural dipole configuration that energize the reflected sound field without altering the direct sound. The result is increased brilliance, enhanced detail and spatial perception, with an immersive, three-dimensional and lifelike soundstage.

Invisible precision, audible magic

Diva’s crossover follows a unique philosophy: woofer and midrange are crossed at 200 Hz but then treated as a single unit, to which a low-pass filter is applied. This architecture, developed by Opera after years of research, optimizes phase and ensures tonal continuity up to the tweeter crossover, enabling smooth transitions and highly accurate transient response.

The crossover employs carefully selected high-end components – Mundorf capacitors, MOX resistors and OFC copper inductors – with separate circuits for tweeter and mid-bass, minimizing interference.

The auxiliary dipole source is also equipped with its own independent crossover, allowing precise control of cutoff and attenuation.

Freedom and Versatility in Listening

With its relatively compact dimensions yet uncompromised performance, Opera Diva stands out for its remarkable flexibility. Its sculpted front panel makes it suitable even for nearfield listening, while the woofer’s placement close to the floor reduces wall interactions, facilitating integration even in medium-sized rooms.

The rear reflex system also offers three different configurations – open, closed, or mixed – adapting easily to challenging environments or corner placement.

Simple adjustments, such as toe-in orientation or reflex tuning, allow the listener to achieve the perfect balance of depth, openness and low-frequency control. With Diva, any room can be transformed into a personal concert hall.
